Dot NAME Domains

Introduced in 2001, the Dot NAME top-level domain is the only one intended for personal sites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other labels people are famous by. Initially, solely 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wanted to book john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already acquired 3rd-level domain names remained online.

You will be able to modify the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already purchased domain to our company if you get its EPP transfer key from the current domain service provider and we will renew it once the transfer has been done. There are no special prerequisites on who can obtain a .NAME domain, but in order to keep the idea behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry may check who the Registrant is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain, the registration may be challenged.
